American Author Returns to ATS LIVE, Monday Oct. 14th!

It’s back! Hey y’all, join me this Monday evening for another fun evening on ATS LIVE as we welcome back AMERICAN AUTHOR! It’s sure to be a great night on the porch.

I can’t believe it’s been a full year since I premiered a reality segment called AMERICAN AUTHOR, but this is precisely the case, and it’s past time for another round.

The premise of AMERICAN AUTHOR is simple. A number of authors are supplied with a limited amount of time and several story starters (time, place, and props.)  Their mission: to create a tale on the fly!

Our authors will then read their short stories and you, the listening audience, can cast a vote for your favorite on the All Things Southern Facebook Wall.

Monday’s contestants will be:

LISA WINGATE

Lisa Wingate lives on a ranch in Texas, where she spoils the livestock, raises boys, and teaches Sunday school to high school seniors. She was inspired to become a writer by a first grade teacher who said she expected to see Lisa’s name in a magazine one day. Lisa also entertained childhood dreams of being an Olympic gymnast and winning the National Finals Rodeo, but was stalled by the inability to do a back flip on the balance beam and parents who wouldn’t finance a rodeo career. She was lucky enough to marry into a big family of cowboys and southern storytellers who would inspire any lover of tall tales and fun characters. She is a full-time writer, bestselling author of sixteen novels, and writes inspirational fiction for both a general market publisher and a Christian publisher. Of all the things she loves about her job, she loves connecting with people, both real and imaginary, the most.

Rachel Hauck

Rachel Hauck writes the stories she loves to read. Yankee born, she’s lived in the south most of her life. “When I first went to Ohio State from Tallahassee, FL, I called every one ‘Sugar.’ I said things like ‘hey’ and ‘y’all.’” Rachel spun her southern experience into stories with her first chick lit, Georgia On Her Mind. “I love writing about the south because it’s warm, and rich in traditions, food and faith.” Partnering with her southern based publisher, Thomas Nelson, Rachel has written stories set in Nashville, the South Carolina lowcountry and eastern Tennessee.

Julie Cantrell

New York Times and USA TODAY Bestselling author Julie Cantrell was the editor-in-chief of the Southern Literary Review and the recipient of the 2012 Mississippi Arts Commission Literary Artist Fellowship. She has been a freelance writer for many years and has contributed to more than a dozen books. Julie and her family live in Oxford, Mississippi where they operate Valley House Farm. She is also a certified speech-language pathologist and currently teaches English as a second language to elementary students. Her debut novel, Into the Free, hit shelves February 1, 2012 (David C Cook) and the sequel, When Mountains Move, is scheduled for release September, 2013.
