Family Reunions or Uncle Who Did What?!

Hey y’all, “tell the truth and stay in church”, (that would be one of my peoples’ fav sayings), did y’all go to your family reunions this summer? I had two, only made one. (Mass apologies to mama’s side!)

Of course, truth is, I only made it to the Rushing shindig this past Saturday by the skin of my teeth.

I was late. Again.

Didn’t even make the noon meal. Again.

Hence I didn’t even bring food. Again.

In my defense, I ran out of week before I ran out of work and had to work that morning! Still, Cuzin Connie harrassed me unmercifully for those major faux paux’s what with me being known as the Belle of All Things Southern and all. This counts as my official repentance.

I am not even at liberty to tell y’all some of the new and interesting things I learned about my family in the short amount of time I was with them.  I mean, I wish I could but I can’t. I’m sworn to silence. I promised not to say a word about learning that one of my ancestors married both an Indian woman and a Caucasean woman and maintained the two families over both sides’ objections, so no more about that.

But again, I want to hear about your family reunions. Did you go? Did you have fun? Did you learn anything interesting? We’re gonna discuss family reunions on ATS LIVE this afternnoon, so leave your thoughts here on the blog and I’ll share! (If you didn’t make your reunion, feel free to leave your apologies to your tribe here along with your Official Excuse.)

Hugs,
Shellie

Let’s see, there’s the issue of Xenia in the family book. Married my great-grandfather, but there’s no word about what happened to her before he married the great-grandmother I knew. We’re not sure if she left, died or what. So, she’s the great mystery.

Then, there’s the time when my youngest stepson, aged 14 or 15 at the time, attended my family reunion. He was taken by the beauty of the girls there and promptly came to clarify that those were not “really” his cousins, not blood-cousins.

Other than that, we’re normal. That’s my story.
