I Find You Waiting

I texted her late last night. Because she lives too far from me. Because her city is large and has been mentioned as a target. Because even though she has a husband and children of her own, she’ll always be my little girl and the instinct to protect her will always be strong.

So, tomorrow is 9-11. We’re not trying to scare you and we aren’t suggesting you should, but have y’all considered keeping the boys home?

Her response came early this morning.

Didn’t even think about it until you texted. Just prayed and feel it’s okay to let them go.

I read her message to her dad and we both smiled. Nothing she said could have sounded better to our ears. Resisting fear, choosing faith.

And that’s exactly what you should do,  I wrote. We love you.

Phil left before daylight. I watched the sun rise over the lake bank and prayed for us all. That God would thwart the new plans of evil men today and grant old grief fresh healing.  That we would all turn to God and find Him waiting.

Hugs,
Shellie

Shellie – Just wanted to tell you how much you blessed our group of “book club” ladies this week. You are so precious and a joy to listen to. Jesus shines through you. We could have listened to you for hours. May his grace travel with you always. Love You, Liz

I recently found your book “Suck In You Stomach And Put On Some Color” (don’t remember the title exactly, but LOVED the book!) I read it to my husband when he had surgery this week. We both laughed until we cried. I misplaced the book during our trip home, so ordered it today, as well as another of your books.

I found your fanpage on facebook, and followed a link to this page. I am impressed, and humbled by your humor and faith. I hope my own faith will be strengthened by both your strength and humor. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Your amazing faith, humor and personality comes through loud and clear!

Dear Teresa, I can’t begin to tell you how much your note has blessed me! Thank you for the kind words. I’m delighted to know I brought some humor to the hospital stay and I do hope your husband is on the mend! I do love All Things Southern, and writing humor, but you pegged me on the Jesus thing. He is my life. 🙂 I think you would enjoy my last release, Heart Wide Open. Take care and seek Him with me. He is worthy. 🙂
