Was texting with my daughter late last night about

Was texting with my daughter late last night about my new joy of learning the art of candle-making which literally has me “burning the candle at both ends” when I said, “I don’t know why I love it so much!”

This morning the beloved farmer and I were chatting before he left for work when our conversation filled in some blanks for me. You and me, all of us, were made in the image of God. That means characteristics of God, the Creator are in each of us.

Art is so much more than paintings and prose. Art can be the tune released from a piano, baking bread, or creating a website. Art can be reflected in you stopping on a walking path and arranging leaves into the pleasing lines of a cross, for no other reason than that you’re moved to engage with the nature you’re enjoying. Art is the beloved farmer putting seeds in an empty field anticipating a blade that turns into a stalk that will fill out with grain and looking forward to doing it again the next season because when we create, we mimic our heavenly Father. It gives us a taste of fulfillment and we want more of it.

Sadly, we can create demeaning ugly art in just as many ways because of the sin that twisted mankind’s nature in the fall. But that’s another conversation for another day. Right now, my purpose is to encourage you to create.

Is there something you once created that you set aside because, well, life? Pick it up again.

Is there something you always wanted to learn to make, to do? Try it.

Don’t make excuses about how old or young you are or how ill equipped you feel. Give up all ideas of doing it perfectly. You won’t. My candles are such a work in progress. Just. Like. Me. And just like you. But we’re loved by the one true God who gave His only begotten Son to reconcile us and restore us. Talk to Him today. Reach for Him. Image Him. (And send me pics!♥️)

Dear friend, my heart is heavy for believing paren

Dear friend, my heart is heavy for believing parents whose kids are living in rebellion against God. I’ve pasted a prayer below that I’ve penned. If it speaks to where you find yourself and your loved one, please personalize it with your own requests and your child’s name. Do not grow weary in prayer. I know it is difficult, but more importantly, God sees and hears your heart, and He is faithful. Don’t give up hope! Hugs, Shellie

Father, I ask you to encourage my friends in the war for their children’s souls and help them not grow weary in their prayers to the point that they give in to the enemy’s plans for their children. Comfort these parents on their journey! Strengthen them from within.

Father, I ask you to open their loved ones eyes to the lies holding them captive. They are far from You because they think they’re protecting their right to their best life. Help them understand that surrendering their will to Yours leads to their best life. May they understand that You are for them, and Your commandments are for them. Redeem the wounds they have suffered that have built walls around their hearts. Deliver them from sin and give them futures full of hope. Grant them a desire to seek You in Your transforming Word. Help them to understand they may not have chosen the pain of their broken and unfulfilled lives, but they did choose their ways and their wills, and choosing our will always leads to pain and heartache.

-I ask for every door to close that doesn’t lead this child home to You.

-I ask for every relationship to fail that doesn’t lead this child home to You.

-I ask for every enjoyment to pale that doesn’t lead this child home to You.

-I ask for every source of comfort to be empty that doesn’t lead this child home to You.

In the holy name of Jesus, I pray. Amen
