Whoever heard of a Pastimony?

Hey y’all! About to hit the road again. I’ll be in Denham Springs, LA tonight at Cavalier House Books from six until ten talking about Suck Your Stomach In and Put Some Color On and Sue Ellen’s Girl Ain’t Fat, She Just Weighs Heavy! Hope you’ll join us if you’re within range. 🙂

Right now, however, I wanted to share some words from my morning Bible study that I’m taking with me to ponder on the drive. They came from the 13th chapter of Matthew.  And Jesus said to them, “Therefore every scribe who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like a head of a household, who brings out of his treasure things new and old.”

Clearly, the precious things we know of God are to be simultaneously stored in our hearts and shared with those around us. But, may we never be content to share old treasure alone, as valuable as it is. Let’s be purposeful about searching His Word for new treasure, too! Let’s not have a pastimony but a testimony. 🙂  Later!

Hugs,
Shellie

My 92 yr old mom and I enjoy reading your blog. I love what you wrote about His Word! That’s exactly how we feel. WhenweI experience the Word bringing comfort, instruction, reproof, joy in our circumstances, It causes us to trust It, to depend on It, to LOVE II as the Person It is! Love the scripture you posted “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God…” What a perfect picture to depict how we feel! God bless!
